Football Season is Almost Here!
DFW SEC Kick-Off Party , Rock the Box Appreciation Party and 2 firms giving back to New Orleans & LA! With 18 days before the 1st kickoff on Sept. 4th, this week holds two parties for our Dallas Chapter. The 1st is the Annual monthly Happy Hour for the DFW SEC Alumni chapters. This annual kick-off party will be hosted Thursday, Aug. 19th by the Florida Alumni chapter at Fox & Hound, 112 W Campbell Rd, Richardson from 6-10 PM, or later for some. Come enter the smack contest of our SEC families as we celebrate the season of the finest football conference in America- SEC Football!
Press Box Grill has redecorated, painted and installed a new sound system to go with the new 112 inch HD Big Screen TV for our watch parties . And to kick it off, our Dallas Alumni Chapter has been invited to a Rock the Box Party on Saturday, Aug. 21st, from 7Pm on. Valet parking, $1 beer, free appetizers, door prizes and giveaways are just a few of the treats to look forward to. Let's celebrate with our new watch partners as we move closer to 9/4!
Two firms that have LA ties are putting their money where it means the most- with those who have been affected by the Gulf oil spill. One of our chapter members, Virginia Pivonka, of Dallas based Rockfish Grill notified us of a fund raiser that will be held on Aug. 25th and contributions will be accepted through Aug. 29th. You can read the release on their website, www.rockfishseafood.com. Let's support those who support us as well as our families back in LA.
Another member, Stacey Relton, wrote about a company, NOLA Shirts, that is donating 15% of SALES, not just profits, to www.forthebayou.org. Their website is www.nolashirts.com. As she said, it's never too early to start getting ready for Christmas and why not support someone who wants to give back to LA. Your support makes their efforts that much more beneficial to all. And thanks to both of these ladies for their news of interest to us.
Lastly, thanks to each of our watch locations for hosting our happy hours this summer. We appreciate what you've done for us. We also appreciate all who have joined or renewed this year as we are less than $1900 away from our goal of contributing $20K to LSUAA Scholarships for DFW students in 2010. With over 200 enrolling as freshmen from DFW area, our role becomes more challenging. Your membership now has a 12 month duration and 80% of your dues go directly to that fund. We are trying to print and laminate as many memberships as possible to increase durability for the year. Your taking the time to support your Dallas chapter with your memberships allows us to give back to incoming students at a greater clip. And passing back is one of the key reasons for our alumni chapters! Over 250 have so far this year. If you're not one of them, now is a good time to be included. Check the membership link on our website and be an active member. We'll appreciate you.
