Homecoming at LSU
How 'bout dem Tigers?????? In one of the most outstanding games in all aspects, offense, defense, special teams, our LSU Tigers showed that they have been underrated, while primarily underachieving, and as a result, have moved back into the BCS Bowl picture with our 24-21 win over defending national champions, Alabama. A packed Death Valley was still celebrating in the stands long after the final whistle. With a little help from GA and AL against Auburn, the SEC Championship could be a possibility. But first we have to avoid playing to the level of our competition and not take UL Monroe for granted.
Homecoming game kickoff is set for 6 PM Saturday and will only be shown on Tiger Vision. So plan on coming to the watch party location nearest you, and that should only be 15-20 minutes from home, and enjoy our 9th victory of the year. And while you are there, take advantage of the 20% discount for food at 4 of our locations with your membership card. If you are not using it whenever you eat at these locations, you are missing out on one of the best reasons to belong to our Dallas Chapter. Remember, this is an investment, not an expense.
This week your Board sent another $6000 toward our latest Top 100 Scholarship at LSUAA. This leaves us only $6K to complete the full endowment of our 4th scholarship at LSU. (Five years ago, we had 1 full and part of a second and your support has made the difference!) Each time you join or renew your membership, purchase one of our Texas Tiger Tees, use your Tom Thumb Reward card or make a tax deductible contribution toward scholarships to our Dallas Chapter, money is generated for scholarships at LSU, a part of Forever LSU. And when one of the lead stories in the Sunday Advocate was the $21 Million in cuts at LSU due to revenue shortfalls in LA, you get a more complete picture of why we harp on giving back to LSU and the students of its future.
If you have not renewed yet, now is the best time to do so! We have 430 members this year and our goal is 500, which has never been accomplished in our chapter's storied history. Of that number, 167 are brand new members. You can be a part of history and reap the benefits as well. If everyone who is receiving this update were to join or renew, we would not only complete the balance of 4th Top 100 Scholarship but also create another $10K toward our 5th! Know that we appreciate all of you who have supported our chapter both now and in years past. The need for your support now has never been greater. Help us to help the future of LSU!
