From the outhouse to the penthouse! Remember this time last year when LSU was releasing it's basketball coach from his contract? (How's that for political correctness!) When we didn't even get an invitation to the NIT? Well, along comes Trent Johnson from Stanford to save the day. And last night, our LSU Tigers clinched a first round bye in the SEC Basketball Tournament.
Winners of 11 straight conference games and with very little TV exposure in our area, this week will turn the famine into a virtual feast. Beginning on Fat Tuesday at 8 PM, ESPN will televise the Florida- LSU game from the PMAC. Then on Saturday of this week, LSU invades Rupp Arena in Lexington to take down the Kentucky Wildcats. CBS will telecast that game with a 3 PM tipoff. With only 4 games remaining, a single victory will secure the Western Division title and the no. 1 seed in the SEC tournament in 3 weeks.
And what better places to watch these two games than our two watch party locations, Fox & Hound on Midway and George Bush and Sherlock's at Park Lane & Central Expressway by North Park Mall. Drink specials will the order of the day on Fat Tuesday as we celebrate Mardi Gras LSU style. Add a little green to your LSU purple and gold colors and you're ready to party.
Thanks to those who helped make the LSU float in Saturday's Mardi Gras Parade such a success. And thanks for all of you who came out to cheere us on. Plans are already in the works for next year's parade. Watch our website for pictures in the near future.
And to top it off, our Tiger Baseball team opened the New Alex Box Stadium with a 3 game sweep of Villanova!
