Membership Update - 3/12/09

Kill 2 birds this coming Saturday- enjoy the monthly SEC Alumni Chapter Mixers and see the two Semifinals of the SEC Basketball Tournament at the same time! The Univ of Arkansas will be hosting our March (Madness) Mixer at their watch location, Jerseyville Classic in the Shops of Willow Bend Mall, 6121 W Park Blvd (at the NW corner of the Tollway and Park Blvd.) in Plano. Tip off for the first game is 12 noon and the second game is 2:15. Since LSU will be playing Kentucky on Friday in the early game, they should be playing in the first of the 2 semifinal contests. Come early and plan to stay through both games. It's a great way to enjoy SEC pride with other SEC chapters.

While the Crawfish Boil is an extra mixer of sorts with our LSU chapter as host in April, due to scheduling conflicts, some chapters may not be represented as well as they would like on the 18th. So our LSU chapter has agreed to host a weeknight mixer just prior to our Crawfish Boil date. The date will be Thursday, April 16th at Fox & Hound, our N Dallas watch location on Midway just south of George Bush in N Dallas. We'll begin at 6:30 and want you to come out to help us welcome other SEC chapters at one of our favorite venues. So mark your calender!

Lastly, thanks for the uptick of ticket purchases for our April 18th Crawfish Boil and I especially want to thank those who have renewed their memberships at the same time. In order to complete the endowment of the third Top 100 Scholarship at LSUAA, we are within $1500 of that completion. Since we take $20 of your $25 annual dues and apply to scholarships, we only needed 75 memberships to accomplish that. And I'm happy to report than as of today, we are over 50% there with 38 memberships since the first of the year. So when you're placing your ticket orders, do us a big favor and renew your dues at the same time. I'd like to have as many membership cards printed and laminated for distribution at the CB as possible. It gives you a more permanent card and saves us on shipping charges as well.

Thanks also for those who have purchased Texas Tiger Tee Shirts benefitting our scholarship fund. Be sure to wear your Texas Tiger tees to the crawfish boil and show off our purple and gold pride for visiting alumni chapters. And the last item we need to address is fielding a co-ed volleyball team for LSU. If you would like to be a part of the up coming "winning team" at the SEC Volleyball Championships, just reply to this message and we'l see that you get to participate. Remember- the more you put into this Crawfish Boil, along with your LSU chapter, the more you get out of it!
